Kids Baking Series
4 class series at the ICC.
In this 4 class series kids ages 8-14 will learn basic baking skills and progress each week learning new techniques. Nutrition information and science of certain ingredients will also be learned throughout this series.
Andrea (the teacher), is a certified Massachusetts teacher and holds a Bachelors in Home Economics from Ireland as well as a Masters in Health Education from Cambridge College.
Class 1: Chocolate Chip cookies and Breakfast muffins -
Class 2: Swiss Roll and Carrot Cake:
Class 3: Cupcakes and Chocolate Cake -
Class 4: Apple Pie and Cornbread - all things FALL !
In all classes the following skills will be introduced and developed:
kitchen safety and hygiene
oven safety
basic measuring skills
aeration of eggs and how different ingredients work together
using mixer/electric whisk
lining cake pan
different techniques for different baked goods i.e creaming, batters, whisking.
